The two costliest things for your trip will be getting there and staying somewhere. Cheap Jamaican flights is the 1st thing you should look for when going to the island paradise. To get the cheapest flights it is best to travel during the off-peak season. That means, plan trips before and after summer and winter. It is during this time that airlines rise their prices, to cash in on the extreme demand. Another way of getting cheap Jamaican flights is by using the various online vendors such as Orbitz, Priceline or Yahoo Travel. There are some cheap Jamaican flights if you look properly. Try having a flexible schedule and make sure you buy your tickets in advance. The further ahead you book the ticket is the cheaper the prices of the tickets. This is extremely helpful if you are looking for cheap Jamaican air travel flights. Once this headache is out of the way, you will be able to enjoy what Jamaica has to offer

Hype TV on Direct TV

Posted on Wednesday 13 December 2006

Direct TV has Hype TV dubbed as  the world’s first 24 hour Caribbean music and entertainment channel. You can find Hype TV on Direct TV Channel Guide  2180. This is a big step for our local television to get some exposure. With such a big step however, the programming needs to be better. At such a high level, we do not want to see backyard standards with the production of shows. It may be ok with us on the rock, but someone who is exposed to this unique Jamaican production might just look and say that this is cheap

Two questioned for Berbick’s murder

Posted on Monday 30 October 2006

The Portland police yesterday said they have held another man in connection with the slaying of former World Boxing Council Heavyweight Champion Trevor Berbick.

At the same time, Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller extended condolences to Berbick’s family and appealed to persons who might have information about the murder to assist the police in their investigations.

Berbick’s body was found on the premises of a church across from his house in Norwich, Portland on Saturday morning with chop wounds to the head.
According to a report from the Port Antonio Criminal Investigation Bureau, the second suspect was held on Saturday evening just hours after the first individual was held in connection with the killing.
Both are now being questioned at the Port Antonio Police Station.

In the meantime, the police say they have been getting co-operation from residents in putting the pieces of the case together.
The Observer was told that while a motive has still not been established for the killing, it was believed that it was motivated by a domestic dispute. The murder weapon has still not been determined.

Berbick placed Jamaica on top of the world on March 22, 1986 when he upset Pinklon Thomas via a unanimous decision to take the WBC World Heavyweight title. His reign was rather short-lived, as he later lost, in his first title defence, on November 22 of the said year to 20-year-old Mike Tyson.

Throughout his career, Berbick beat such fighters as Iran ‘The Blade’ Barkley, Greg Page and John Tate, but some of his notable losses were against James ‘Buster’ Douglas, Renaldo Snipes and Larry Holmes. During his career he had a record of 50 fights, 11 losses and one draw.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Simpson Miller said that Jamaicans were saddened to hear of the killing of Berbick who, as the island’s first heavyweight champion, had made the country and its people proud.
She said everything would be done to bring the perpetrator or perpetrators to justice.

Patty and Cocoa Bread, The Essential Lunch

Posted on Thursday 12 October 2006

My stomach was growling today like a lioness about to give birth. I needed to satisfy the animal or else its actions would be something that I could not control. I headed down the road to the local patty shop to tame the savage beast. Nothing beats having a $50 beef patty along with a $25 cocoa bread. That cheap combination of food is a match made in
